What LatAm careers with Awana look like

You get matched to a US startup role that fits your seniority, stack, and career goals. Contracts are typically USD-denominated. You work remote from your home country — no visa, no relocation, no US work authorization required. You start when the role starts, and you stay as long as it's a fit. Placements at Awana average 24+ months of tenure with the client.

This isn't a job board. It's a talent network. When we have a role that matches your profile, we reach out. Between roles, we invest in your career development, connect you to other engineers in the region, and share salary benchmarks so you know what you're worth.

How Awana is different from a job board

Most LatAm job boards are volume plays. You apply, your resume goes into a pile, and the client's ATS auto-screens you out based on keyword matching. That's not what we do.

Awana is a curated talent network. We spend real time understanding your career story, your technical strengths, and what you're trying to build next. When a client role opens that fits, we advocate for you specifically. When we send you to a client, they already know we vouched for you. That changes the interview dynamic completely.

The result: our placements sign offers within 2-4 weeks of the first client conversation, at rates that beat market by 10-20% on average. Because when we submit you, we've already done the work of making sure this is the right role for you and you're the right person for the role.

Salary and career growth

Senior LatAm developers placed with US startups through Awana typically earn $60,000-$95,000 USD/year, varying by country, stack, and seniority. AI engineers, founding engineers, and specialized roles trend higher.

These are US-market rates, not local-market rates. You're being paid what your work is worth to a US-based buyer, not what a local employer would pay. That's the whole reason working remote with US startups is such a good career move.

Salary benchmarks by country and role are in the free LatAm Salary Calculator. Use it to check what you should be earning in your specific market.

Frequently asked LatAm careers questions

Do I need US work authorization to work with Awana?

No. All Awana placements are remote from your home country. You do not need US work authorization, a visa, or to relocate. Most placements are structured as contractor engagements with the US client, denominated in USD. If you already live somewhere in Latin America and have a laptop, you can work with us.

How long does the process take?

Applying to our talent network takes 15 minutes. Our first screen is another 30-45 minutes on a call. If we match you to a client role, from that point to signed offer usually takes 2-4 weeks. Most clients move fast because we've already done the vetting for them.

What if I'm between opportunities?

Between roles, we invest in your career. We share salary benchmarks so you can negotiate confidently. We connect you to other senior engineers in the region. And when a role that fits you opens, you're already at the top of the list.

Do I have to be senior?

Most of what we place is senior to staff level. That's what US startups are typically hiring. If you're mid-level with strong specialization (AI, systems, or a specific stack), we still want to talk — sometimes the right role is out there. We're less useful for entry-level engineers because that's not what our clients are hiring.

Which LatAm countries do you source from?

Primary markets are Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, and Ecuador. We also work with candidates from Brazil, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. If you have LatAm tech experience and English fluency, we want to talk regardless of country.
